How to Accessorize a Bathing Suit

Whether you have a fun beach party to go to, or if you plan on lounging more by the pool, rather than in it, there are some key notes to keep in mind when it comes to accessorizing your bathing suit. Check out some tips from our fashion editors that you are definitely going to want to keep in mind.

1)   What’s Your Jewelry Made Of?

Jewelry is one of the easiest ways to dress up a look. There’s everything from fun statement necklaces and bold chandelier earrings. HOWEVER, there is something we want to stress, especially if your party is taking place during the day. Avoid metal jewelry at beach and pool outings for a very simple reason. You don’t want to burn yourself. Being out in the hot sun is going to literally heat up any metal that you are wearing. Not only do we want you to be safe, but we want you to be comfortable as well. Why not opt for more summery materials such as beads, wood or fabric?  They look fantastic and will be safe against your skin.

2)   Rethink Those Heels & Wedges!

We get it, wearing high heels or high wedges will elongate your legs when you are wearing a swimsuit. After all, who doesn’t want sky-high legs when they are baring almost everything?  But we would like you to actually survive your event. If you are in the sand or by the pool, you want to wear flat footwear that will allow you to walk and keep you standing so that you don’t sink in the sand or slip in water puddles. Opt for designs that have a rubber bottom so that there is a good grip. There are so many slip-resistant flip-flop and flat sandal options out there that will allow you to be stylish and stay standing.

3)   Choose Fashion-Meets-Function Pieces

Why not wear items that do double duty? Because you are going to be exposed to the sun a lot, we really like the idea of slipping on cute items, that will also protect you from UV rays. Think along the lines of summer floppy hats or chic sunglasses. As a matter of fact, you could even combine the two and channel your inner movie star. This is one look that you are going to love!
